Water can be dangerous, as painful lessons with the recent number of deaths by drowning prove - like the double tragedy involving two teenage boys who drowned off Pasir Ris Park this month.

With drowning now one of the most common causes of death, the National Water Safety Taskforce is working on improving water safety, and reducing the number of drowning fatalities.

Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, outlines the government's initiatives to prevent further drownings.
